About the editors
Emmanuele A. Jannini, MD, OMRI, KSG, KHS, SMOCG, a Full Professor of Endocrinology and Medical Sexology (ENDOSEX) and director of the Postgraduate School of Endocrinology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, was a guest researcher and fellow at the Clinical Endocrinology Branch, NIDDK/NIH, Bethesda, and lecturer at St Catherine’s College, Oxford on courses of the European Academy of Sexual Medicine. He is or has been a visiting professor of Andrology at the Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou), Anhui Medical University (Hefei), Jiao Tong University (Shanghai), Daxin Hospital (Xi’an), and Academic Advisor of the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; moreover, he is currently an Honorary Professor of Andrology & Sexual Medicine at the Hanoi School of Medicine. Prof. Jannini is chairman of the Education Committee of the European Academy of Andrology, the Multidisciplinary Joint Committee on Sexual Medicine of the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes, the Italian Academy for Couple Health, and past president and past general secretary of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine and the Italian Society of Endocrinology, respectively. He is an international expert in andrology and medical sexology, having published 300 well-recognized scientific studies and books on premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, paraphilias, thyroid hormone receptor, and female sexual function and dysfunction. In 2023, Prof. Jannini received the Career Award of the European Society of Sexual Medicine.
Prof. Mario Maggi is Full Professor ofEndocrinology at University of Florence (Italy) since Sept. 2000. Chief of the Endocrinological Unit at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences “Mario Serio”, at the same University, since Nov. 2018. Director of the School of Specialization in Endocrinology at the same University, since Nov. 2019. Academic employment history: He got a Fellowship at the Laboratory of Theoretical and Physical Biology, NICHD, NIH, Bethesda, MD (USA) in 1985-86. He was Consultant at Molecular Genetic Section Pediatric Branch, National Cancer Institute, NIH, Bethesda, MD (USA) in 1991. He served as Assistant Professor at Andrology Unit, AOUC (Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi), Florence (Italy) from 1993 to 2000. He was Chief of the Andrology Unit at AOUC (Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi), Florence (Italy) from 2005 to 2009. He was Chief of the Sexual Medicine and Andrology Unit at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences “Mario Serio”, University of Florence (Italy) from 2009 to 2018. Publications/awards: Prof. Maggi is the author of 700 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the fields of human reproduction and sexual medicine. Actual H-Index Google Scholar: 117 (from 2018: 72) – H-Index Scopus: 93. He received numerous research grants and awards, last of which the “Career Award 2020” awarded to him at the 22nd Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (23-25 January 2020). He was Associate Editor for the “Human Reproduction Update” and the “International Journal of Endocrinology” and “Journal of Sexual Medicine”; at the present, he is Associate Editor of the “Journal of Endocrinological Investigation”.
