In recent years, new applications on computer-aided technologies for telemedicine have emerged. About the editors

Gonçalo Marques holds a PhD in Computer Science Engineering and is member of the Portuguese Engineering Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros). He is currently working as Assistant Professor lecturing courses on programming, multimedia and database systems. Furthermore, he worked as a Software Engineer in the Innovation and Development unit of Groupe PSA automotive industry from 2016 to 2017 and in the IBM group from 2018 to 2019. His current research interests include Internet of Things, Enhanced Living Environments, machine learning, e-health, telemedicine, medical and healthcare systems, indoor air quality monitoring and assessment, and wireless sensor networks. He has more than 60 publications in international journals and conferences, is a frequent reviewer of journals and international conferences and is also involved in several edited books projects.

Dr. Akash Kumar Bhoi has completed his B.Tech. (Biomedical Engineering) from Trident Academy of Technology, BPUT University, Odisha and M.Tech. (Biomedical Instrumentation) from Karunya University, Coimbatore in the year 2009 and 2011 respectively. In 2019 he is awarded Ph.D. in the area of Biomedical Signal Processing from Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Sikkim Manipal University, India. He is working as Assistant Professor-I in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), India since 2012. He is the University Ph.D. Course Coordinator for “Research & Publication Ethics (RPE)”. He is member of IEEE, ISEIS and IAENG, associate member of IEI, UACEE and editorial board member reviewer of Indian and international journals. He is also a regular reviewer of journals of repute namely IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Inderscience etc. His areas of research are biomedical signal processing, medical image processing, sensors and transducers, and medical instrumentation. He haspublished several papers in national and international journals and conferences. He has 70+ documents registered in Scopus database. He has also served on numerous organizing panels for the international conferences and workshops. He is currently editing several books with Springer Nature and serving as Guest editor for special issues of the journal like Springer Nature and Inderscience.



ISABEL DE LA TORRE-DÍEZ is currently a Professor with the Department of Signal Theory and Communications and Telematic Engineering, University of Valladolid, Spain. She is also the Leader of the GTe Research Group. Her research interests include design, development and evaluation of telemedicine applications, services and systems, e-health, m-health, electronic health records (EHRs), EHRs standards, biosensors, cloud and fog computing, data mining, quality of service (QoS), and quality of experience (QoE) applied to the health field.



BEGOÑA GARCÍA-ZAPIRAIN was born in San Sebastian (Spain). She graduated in Communications Engineering, specializing in Telematics at the Basque Country University, Bilbao (Spain) in 1994. In 2004, she defended her doctoral thesis in biomedical signal processing research area. After four years of working for ZIV Company, in 1997, Prof. García-Zapirain joined the University of Deusto as a lecturer in signal theory and electronics at the Engineering School. She was the head of the Telecommunication Department at the University of Deusto from 2002-2008 and head of DeustoTech-LIFE Department from 2008-2018. In 2001 she created eVIDA research group (evida.deusto.es). She has participated in more than 100 research projects on international, national and regional levels, published more than 70 papers in international scientific ISI indexed journals, and presented more than 160 papers in international and national scientific conferences. She has been supervising more than 10 thesis and has ongoing 5 PhDstudents. She has strong collaborations with research labs in USA, France, Ireland, and Netherlands among others. She has 5 research awards at national level.
