2 What is green open access?

Green OA, also referred to as self-archiving, is the practice of placing the author’s accepted manuscript in any repository or website when publishing the article in a subscription-based journal.
There are individual self-archiving policies by journal or publisher which determine the terms and conditions, e.g. which article version can be used and when the article may be uploaded in a repository.
Springer’s self-archiving terms are detailed in the Copyright Transfer Statement authors sign after article acceptance. Please see our self-archiving policy for details or visit the SHERPA/RoMEO database.
