About this book
The book is a collection of peer-reviewed scientific papers submitted by active researchers in the 1st International Conference on Advancements of Medical Electronics (ICAME2015). The conference is organized jointly by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering, JIS College of Engineering, West Bengal, India. The primary objective of the conference is to strengthen interdisciplinary research and its applications for the welfare of humanity. A galaxy of academicians, professionals, scientists, statesman and researchers from different parts of the country and abroad got together and shared their knowledge. The book presents research articles of medical image processing & analysis, biomedical instrumentation & measurements, DSP & clinical applications, embedded systems & its applications in healthcare. The book can be referred as a tool for further research.

About the editors
Dr. Somsubhra Gupta is presently the Head of the Department of Information Technology, JIS College of Engineering (An Autonomous Institution). He is graduated from the University of Calcutta and completed his Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He received Ph.D. from University of Kalyani. His area of teaching is Algorithm and allied domains and research area is Machine Intelligence. In research, he has around 56 papers including Book Chapters so far in national/international journals/proceedings and over 40 citations. He is Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator to some Research projects (viz. RPS scheme AICTE).Â
Dr. Sandip Bag is Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani since 2005. He completed his Ph.D., Post-Graduation and Graduation from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Dr. Bag has published over 22 papers in national and international journals and proceedings and also presented papers in India and abroad. He received financial and research grant from DST & UGC, respectively. He developed various laboratories such as Biomaterials & Biomedical Instrumentation laboratory in JISCE.Â
Dr. Karabi Ganguly is Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani. She received her Ph.D. degree from Jadavpur University, India and completed her Post-Graduation and Graduation from the University of Calcutta. She published many papers in national/international journals and proceedings. She has been invited as the reviewer in many international and national Conferences. Her research interest includes Cellular Biochemistry, Physiology, and Clinical Oncology.Â
Dr. Indranath Sarkar obtained his Ph.D. from University of Kalyani in the year 2013. He earned M.E. from Jadavpur University in the year 2002 and B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Regional Engineering College(Presently known as National Institute of Technology), Durgapur in the year 1999. He is presently working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, JIS College of Engineering Kalyani, India. He has published many papers in national/international journals and proceedings.Â
Mr. Papun Biwas is Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani, West Bengal, India. He received his M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calcutta in 2007. Currently, he is a Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Kalyani. His research interests pertain to different areas of Soft and Evolutionary Computing in the area of Fuzzy Multi-objective Decision Making.
