About the editors

Álvaro Rocha holds the title of an Honorary Professor, D.Sc. in Information Sciences, Ph.D. in Information Systems and Technologies, M.Sc. in Information Management, and B.C.S. in Computer Science. He is a Professor of Information Systems at University of Coimbra, researcher at CISUC (Center for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra), and a collaborator researcher at LIACC (Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science) and at CINTESIS (Center for Research in Health Technologies and Information Systems). He is President of AISTI (Iberian Association for Information Systems and Technologies) and Chair of IEEE Portugal Section Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society Chapter. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of JISEM (Journal of Information Systems Engineering & Management) and the Editor-in-Chief of RISTI (Iberian Journal of Information Systems and Technologies). Moreover, he has acted as Vice-Chair of Experts in the Horizon 2020 of the European Commission, as Expert in the Ministry of Education, University and Research of the Government of Italy, and as Expert in the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Latvia.


António Abreu is an Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic of Porto (Portugal). He holds Postdoctorate in Technologies and Information Systems, University of Coimbra; Ph.D. in Software Engineering based on reusable components with Human–Machine Interface applications, University of Vigo; master’s degree in Management Informatics from the University of Minho and Licentiate in Informatics–Mathematics Applied by Lusíada University. He is an effective member of the CEOS.PP Research Center – Center for Organizational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Oporto – and a member of LIACC Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Laboratory – FEUP. 


João Vidal de Carvalho is an Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic of Porto (Portugal); Postdoctorate in Technologies and Information Systems, University of Coimbra; Ph.D. in Information Systems and Technology from University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), M.Sc. in Information Technology Management from University of Minho (Portugal), and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He is an effective member of the CEOS.PP Research Center – Center for Organizational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Oporto – and a member of LIACC Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science Laboratory – FEUP.

Dália Liberato is a Professor of Tourism, specializing in tourism destinations management and tourism planning, at the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Polytechnic of Porto. Currently, she coordinates the Tourist Activities Management degree in the same school. Her main research interests are tourism management, tourism planning, cross-border tourism, and e-tourism.


Elisa Alén is an Associate Professor of Marketing specializing in tourism marketing at the Faculty of Business Sciences and Tourism, University of Vigo. Elisa’s research work lies in the area of tourist behavior, ranging from motivation to behavioral intentions, with a focus on improving satisfaction. In recent years, she has focused on different types of tourism, mainly thermal and senior tourism.


Pedro Liberato is a Professor of Tourism, specializing in tourism destinations management, tourism planning, and tourism marketing, at the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Polytechnic of Porto. Currently, he coordinates the Tourism and Leisure Department and the master’s degree in Tourism Management in the same school. His main research interests are tourism management, tourism planning, e-tourism, ICT in tourism and tourism marketing.
