About this book

This book presents selected articles from the International Conference on Asian and Pacific Coasts (APAC 2019), an event intended to promote academic and technical exchange on coastal related studies, including coastal engineering and coastal environmental problems, among Asian and Pacific countries/regions. APAC is jointly supported by the Chinese Ocean Engineering Society (COES), the Coastal Engineering Committee of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE), and the Korean Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers (KSCOE).

About the editors

Dr. Xiping Dou received her Ph.D. in Hydraulics and River Dynamics from Hohai University, China. She is currently Chief Engineer at the Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI), China and the secretary-general of COES. Her research interests include the fundamental theory of and simulation technologies for hydrodynamics and sediment transport in the estuarine and coastal zone.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet received his Ph.D. from Tohoku University, Japan in 2007. He is currently a Professor at Thuyloi University, Vietnam. His research interests include hydraulic structures; and modeling and analyses for coastal and estuarine dynamics. He has been Vice President of Thuyloi University since 2014, and has been appointed as a distinguished member of the IAHR-APD for 2019-2020 and a member of the State Council for Professorship, Vietnam in the field of hydraulic engineering in 2019

Dr. Tran Thanh Tung received his Ph.D. from Delft University ofTechnology, the Netherlands. He is currently an Associate Professor at Thuyloi University, Vietnam. His research interests include coastal and estuary hydrodynamics, coastal morphology and beach nourishment, and coastal disasters. He has led key research projects on the evolution and stabilization of estuaries and tidal inlets, upgrading the sea-dike system for the central coast of Vietnam, and implementing flooding maps for seven provinces along the central coast of Vietnam.
