Dieses Buch analysiert den Rechtspopulismus als aktuelles Phänomen postmoderner Parteiensysteme in Europa und den USA. Der Autor kommt dabei zu dem Ergebnis, dass rechtspopulistische Parteien wie z.B. die AfD in Deutschland nicht nur Ausdruck, sondern auch Lösung für die aktuellen Probleme der Demokratie in westlichen Regierungssystemen sein können. In Abgrenzung zur Postdemokratie führt er dabei das positiv gewendete Konzept der Neodemokratie ein.
