Overview
- For the first time, a comprehensive presentation of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry as a powerful analytical technique for synthetic polymers is presented in a book format
- Summarizes the fundamentals and technical aspects of the method and describes experimental procedures in detail
- Will enable the reader to plan and execute own experiments and includes applications that have not been published before

Reviews
From the reviews:
First of all, I like the book. The outline is very good to start with introductury material and then to provide details about different polymer-MALDI studies. You have included many examples. So, in summary, I think the book is great and will be a significant contribution. (David M. Hercules, Centennial Professor and Chair, Department of Chemistry, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tn)
From "Journal of the American Chemical Society", Vol. 125/51, 2003:
"... All major applications of MALDI-TOF in polymer analysis, including determination of molar mass and analysis of functional groups and copolymers, are presented, and useful information about instrumentation, selection of matrices, and experimental conditions is provided. ... In general, the book is well written and provides comprehensive information toward practical and established MALDI-TOF MS of synthetic polymers. Other newly developed areas, such as the analysis of nanoparticles, are only mentioned in passing, however. Nonetheless, the book is recommended reading for practitioners in this field."

"The book provides a wealth of useful information from a large number of references and is highly recommended to polymer mass spectrometrists and polymer chemists … . The book is well written and useful both to polymer chemists who want to learn about mass spectrometry’s capabilities and to mass spectrometrists who seek a better understanding of the MALDI method and the advantages of MS with chromatographic combining separation." (ChrysWesdemiotis, Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, Vol. 381, 2005)
"This book offers a summary of the fundamentals and the technical aspects of the matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) of synthetic polymers as well as detailed experimental procedures. … the book is well written and provides comprehensive information toward practical and established MALDI-TOF MS of synthetic polymers. … is recommended reading for practitioners in this field."
