Reviews

From the reviews (of the German edition):

The book presents a fundamental and practical treatment of all important aspects. (…) The text is well written and easy to understand. It stimulates to go on reading to the end of each chapter and to work on the "questions".

(Biospektrum Oct. 2004)

So far, sciences students have no systematic introduction available into the structure of data bases and the intelligently structured search for information. The new text book of Selzer, Marhöfer and Rohwer here fills this gap. The book can be thoroughly recommended to students and instructors in the sciences and molecular medicine. It also can be very useful for biocomputering courses being established at a growing number of universities.

(Biologen heute 5.2003)

Particularly useful are the description of the existing, important data bases on the internet, their usage, and the handling and analysis of the data gained as well as their application in bioinformatics.
