The collection brings together both empirical and conceptual research from around the globe to illustrate how the leader is seen through the lens of the follower. Topics discussed include organizational performance, empowerment, competency models, diversity in the workplace, and social roles and stereotypes. With contributions from a range of skilled authors, Servant Leadership and Followership not only provides an overview of servant leadership, but also offers insightful ways for organizations to adapt and progress in line with the shifting moral demands of today’s workplace.

Reviews

“There is a pressing need for more enlightened forms of leadership around the world today. Servant leadership brings the possibility of uplifting ways of organizational being and as a result, followership is transformed. This important book, edited by Crystal J. Davis, provides research, insights, and the deep thinking of eminent Servant Leadership scholars on the topic of Servant Leadership and Followership.  Practitioners as well as scholars will benefit from reading this collection of essays and applying this new knowledge to uplift organizations.” (Dorianne Cotter-Lockard, PhD, Institute for Social Innovation, Fielding Graduate University, Santa Barbara, CA and Editor of Authentic Leadership and Followership)

“In Servant Leadership and Followership: Examining the Impact on Workplace Behavior, Dr. Crystal Davis, the editor, looks at the intersection of service and leadership, two relatively new fieldsthat will benefit greatly from this work. Davis and her contributors explore leadership through the unique lens of the follower, filling a significant gap in the literature. Each chapter is relevant and necessary. The book has a scholarly and accessible tone and will benefit those interested in being of service, leadership, spirituality and organizational psychology, among other areas. It is a strong addition to any personal and professional library.” (Rev. David Goldberg, Ph.D.)
