About this book
This superbly illustrated book describes how techniques previously developed by Dr. Rollin Daniel for use in open rhinoplasty can be adapted for use in the closed approach. It is the author’s opinion that this combination offers greater feedback during surgery, a shorter recovery period and absence of scar. Full explanation is provided of preoperative preparation, including evaluation of the nasal surface aesthetics using the concept of geometric polygons as aesthetic subunits to define both the existing deformity and the aesthetic goals. The surgical techniques developed and modified to achieve the desired surface appearance are then described step by step with the aid of a wealth of color photos. It is illustrated how the novel dissection and redrape control methods reduce the healing time and enhance outcome and an extensive series of case analyses is presented to document the benefits of the approach. The book is written in a “cookbook format” that will enable plastic surgeons quickly to learn how to utilize the closed approach to rhinoplasty to optimal aesthetic benefit.
Reviews
“Aesthetic Septorhinoplasty is a comprehensive, technically oriented rhinoplasty textbook for surgeons who perform endonasal septorhinoplasty. It is designed to be relevant to all levels of surgeon including residents through senior surgeons performing many rhinoplasties a year. Interestingly, it presents many new concepts related to endonasal (closed) rhinoplasty. … Aesthetic Septorhinoplasty is a book worth reading and having nearby when planning endonasal rhinoplasty operations. … I highly recommend this book for all levels of rhinoplasty surgeon.” (Dr. Jay Calvert, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Vol. 37 (1), January, 2017)
“This book depicts a closed approach to nasal surgery using a patient-specific operative plan. … The book is a combination of thoughts, ruminations, illustrations, drawings, and techniques for reshaping the outer and inner nose. … Each photo is accompanied by a brief written description to fully articulate his operative techniques. … The author's personal techniques are unique, innovative, and thought-provoking. Aesthetic rhinoplasty surgeons will have much to learn and consider after reading this book.” (Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, Doody's Book Reviews, May, 2016)
