About this book

Presently, there is so much focus on diabetes and cardiovascular disease, that the clinical intervention that is required towards its precursor, metabolic syndrome, is often not realised. “Metabolic Syndrome in Clinical Practice” will draw the attention of clinicians towards the importance of diagnosing metabolic syndrome, and therapeutic (including lifestyle) intervention that could be enforced earlier on to prevent its consequences and complications. In doing so, the understanding of present diagnostic criteria and how various metabolic risk factors play their role in its pathogenesis is crucial.

Reviews

From the reviews:

"The author’s stated purpose is to provide a practical approach to the understanding of insulin resistance, obesity, hypertriglyceridemia and the subsequent proinflammatory and prothrombic states. … This is a reference for medical students through attending physicians as well as anyone who wishes to study or obtain additional information on the metabolic syndrome. This book is written at an understandable level for all levels of scientific students of physiology. … the book is comprehensive and an important library addition." (Vincent F. Carr, Doody's Review Service, February, 2008)
