About this book

This handbook is intended for doctors working in this ? eld. It belongs to the pocket of a student, house of? cer, resident, medical of? cer or generalist consultant, who will ? rst see the patient. The clinician needs to suspect at least one disease process as a starting point, because the book is ordered alphabetically according to diagnoses. From this point there are both surgical and imaging differential diagnoses listed. These can also be looked at within the book. For the clinician there is a dedicated page to assist with clinical symptoms and signs, alternative diagnoses and urgency of the radiological investigation, based on important information that is needed from imaging. With regard to imaging, there is a list of primary, follow-on and alternative investi- tions appropriate for the suspected diagnosis. There are lists of imaging features with s- porting images, tips and radiological differential diagnoses. The alphabetic organization makes for a jump to the next suspected diagnosis with ease to ? nd something more suitable for the current patient’s needs.

Reviews

From the reviews:

This is a nicely done, compact introduction to pediatric radiology. … it is well done with a novel, user-friendly format and high quality illustrations. For beginners in the field, it will be a pleasant and easy entree to basic information.” (Robert M. Arensman, Doody’s Review Service, February, 2010)

“This could be called a first-aid emergency booklet to be used by surgeons and clinicians troubled by doubts when confronted with a problematic patient, and by radiologists trying to resolve these questions with all available imaging weapons. … This informative booklet is easy to read … . The book is recommended for young doctors in training to test their skills and more experienced doctors to refresh their knowledge.” (Giampiero Beluffi, La Radiologica Medica, Vol. 115, 2010)

“It provides collection of diagnostic images with accompanying clinical insight, surgical and radiological differential diagnosis. … very helpful from the teaching perspective not only to surgeons and residents, but also to junior radiological residents. It is strongly recommended for all pediatric surgeons … . great book for radiological residents or medical students desiring a concise text of pediatric radiology. … ABC pediatric surgical imaging is well done book of high value. I highly recommend this book as it was a very interesting and challenging read.” (Omar Abd El Aziz, European Radiology, Vol. 21, 2011)
