Apress and IOUG help Oracle professionals transition to senior-level positions

Apress editorial staff chairs panel for IOUG Strategic Leadership Program at COLLABORATE 15 conference

New York | Chicago, 6 April 2015

Some of the latest and best professional books for Oracle practitioners are on display at COLLABORATE 15 – IOUG Forum, to be held in Las Vegas from April 12 to 16. Apress and the IOUG (Independent Oracle Users Group) continue their working relationship on the IOUG Press, a premier line of high-end books aimed at Oracle professionals wanting to grow their skills and expertise. Apress is part of Springer Science+Business Media.

Apress editors Jonathan Gennick and Susan McCormick will be on hand, along with Oracle RMAN Database Duplication author, Darl Kuhn, to discuss available books and publishing opportunities with interested attendees. Gennick will also chair a panel discussion on “Writing to Lead” as part of the IOUG Strategic Leadership Program at the event. The panel discussion begins a series of IOUG Forum presentations aimed at professionals ready to move into senior management and leadership roles.

“Leadership is an ability to communicate a vision, and to persuade others to join and work toward a common goal. The panel will focus specifically on writing, which is an essential form of communication, and an essential skill for any technologist looking to influence peers and subordinates,” said Gennick. “Last year we joined with IOUG to give Oracle users the best and latest in quality content, and our participation in the forum and the conference is an extension of that successful partnership. We are delighted to be a part of this year’s meeting.”

Joining Gennick on the panel are: Bobby Curtis, Infrastructure Principle, Accenture Enkitec Group; Guy Harrison, Executive Director R&D, Dell Software; Charles Kim, President, Viscosity North America; Darl Kuhn, Database Administrator, Oracle Corporation; and Michael Rosenblum, Software Architect, Dulcian, Inc.
