About the Editor

David Tittensor is a Lecturer in Studies of Religion in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Edcation, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of The House of Service: The Gülen Movement and Islam’s Third Way and co-editor of Islam and Development: Exploring the Invisible Aid Economy. His research interests are transnational Muslim movements, Turkish politics and society and religion and development with a focus on Islam.

Serena Hussain is a Sociologist of Religion and a Human Geographer with a focus on Muslim demography and spatial trends. Her book, Muslims on the Map was the first ever comprehensive community profile of Muslims in Britain.

Serena is currently an  Associate Professor at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, where she is the Course Director for the Masters in Global Diversity Governance; and the Academic Director for a Doctoral programme in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs.Some of her recent research has explored the implications of private Islamic schools on integration in the UK and US; the use of group categories for official government statistics; inter-ethnic relations among young people in post conflict areas; diaspora identity and participation in the UK; and social inclusion of migrant groups in Northern Australia.
