Springer Heterocyclic Chemistry Award

About the prize 

ECHC Award 2012
The Springer Heterocyclic Chemistry Award is a recognition for the work of an independent academic researcher with an assistant, associate or full professor position at a university or research institute. Springer presents this award to an outstanding independent academic researcher working in the field of heterocyclic chemistry. To be considered, candidates should hold an assistant, associate or full professorship at a university or research institute and be 50 years or younger in the year in which the award is presented. All aspects of heterocyclic chemistry and both experimental and theoretical work are eligible. A committee of recognized specialists in the field of heterocyclic chemistry will chose the awardee from the list of nominations.
The award is presented at the European Colloquium on Heterocyclic Chemistry (ECHC).

Nominations and Selection Procedure 

The nomination of suitable candidates for the 2018 Springer Heterocyclic Chemistry Award, to be presented at the 2018 ECHC meeting in Lecce, Italy (taking place September 2-5 2018) is now open to the public. Self-nominations will not be accepted. The nomination should contain a short nomination text of approx. 20 lines highlighting the significance and impact of the nominee’s work for the field of heterocyclic chemistry together with 10 key references and a link to the nominee’s institutional website. Nominations should be sent via email to Stephanie Kolb (Stephanie.kolb@springer.com) with the subject line “Nomination Springer Heterocyclic Chemistry Award”.

The Award 

  • Travel grant to the award winner to attend the ECHC (maximum EURO 1500)
  • EURO 1000 cash prize
  • Lifelong online subscription to Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry
  • Lecture at the ECHC (mandatory)
  • A two-year membership on the Editorial Board of Topics in Heterocyclic Chemistry

Prize Winners 

2016

The winner of the Springer Heterocyclic Chemistry Award 2016 goes to Professor Jérôme Waser, at the EPFL in Lausanne. Waser has contributed significantly to the advancement of multiple areas of heterocyclic chemistry, and his highly original work has already had an impact in academia and industry. We look forward to presenting this award to Professor Waser during the European Colloquium on Heterocyclic Chemistry (ECHC) in Amsterdam, July 3-6, 2016.
