Topics in Molecular Organization and Engineering is a book series devoted to the concept of molecules as the basis for geometrical and electronic structures, thermodynamic and kinetic properties, physical and chemical transformations, biologically important interactions, and experimental and theoretical methods for the study of these properties. Some of the questions about the precise definition of molecules lie at the foundations of modern physics, and some involve states of aggregation where superconductivity, ferroelectricity or ferromagnetism may take place, or such extreme conditions as intense radiation fields. The scientific subjects treated in this book series range from the fundamentals of molecular physics, through all branches of chemistry, to molecular biology.
In the first volumes a central core is presented, with a partial emphasis on theoretical and physical chemistry. Later volumes comprise sets of related papers as well as single monographs. They may arise from symposia, invited reviews, authors' initiatives, or translations. Given the rapid development of molecular sciences, both within disciplines and across disciplinary lines, it is expected that this series will play a crucial role in the expansion of our knowledge and the shaping of our ideas.
