About this book series

This series is the result of the effort of the College of Full Professors of Anesthesia and Reanimation, whose objective is promoting all the initiatives required for optimizing teaching methods and training guidelines in anesthesiology and care of the critically ill (elective and urgent perioperational medicine, general and specialist intensive care, medical-surgical emergency medicine, pain therapy and palliative treatment, and hyperbaric therapy).
Basic research, clinical patient assistance, and teaching are all major priorities for the proper development of the training process. This is especially true in a field such as anesthesiology, rightly considered a borderline discipline in the noblest sense of the term - an interdisciplinary area comprising basic research and medical and surgical specializations.
On the basis of these assumptions, what is evidently required is a means of disseminating and updating information that is able to maintain links between those who teach the discipline and its future specialists, but which should also provide a reference for specialists in the field and those wishing to explore it - a user-friendly system which is able to provide a broad picture of education and training.
