About the Editor

Emma Rees is Professor of Literature and Gender Studies at the University of Chester, UK, where she is Director of the Institute of Gender Studies. In 2013 her second book, The Vagina: A Literary and Cultural History was published, and a revised, paperback edition came out in 2015. She has presented her talk, ‘Vulvanomics: How We Talk About Vaginas’ at well over 30 venues throughout Europe and the US. She has published widely in the field of gender and representation. She set up the Talking Bodies project in 2013, running the first of what has become a biennial international, interdisciplinary Talking Bodies conference at the University of Chester. She edited the first Talking Bodies book (published by Palgrave in 2017); is Book Reviews Co-Editor for Gender and Education (Routledge); is a regular contributor to the Times Higher; is a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary; and is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Australian Feminist Studies; Writing From Below; Assuming Gender; and The Journal of Feminist Scholarship.
