About the Editor

Stefan Berger is Professor of Social History and Director of the Institute for Social Movements at Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Germany, as well as Honorary Professor, Cardiff University, UK. He is also executive chair of the Foundation History of the Ruhr. He has published widely on the comparative history of social movements, in particular labour movements as well as national(ist) movements, the history of nationalism and national identity, deindustrialisation studies, and memory studies.

Holger Nehring is Professor of Contemporary European History at the University of Stirling, in the UK. He has published widely on the transnational and comparative history of European social movements, with a focus on peace movements. He is also interested in the history of the Cold War, and in particular the history of military infrastructure in Europe within the wider context of environmental history.
