About the Editor

Ashraf Mishrif leads the Centre for Middle East & Mediterranean Studies' new MA program in the Political Economy of the Middle East, as well as its private sector research project. He is the author of a ground-breaking study of FDI in Egypt and has written extensively on E-government in the MENA region, private sector development, and foreign trade. He has advised UNCTAD, the World Bank, and various ministries in the Egyptian government. Current research investigates the socio-economic challenges faced by Egypt in the wake of the Arab Spring and foreign direct investment and private sector growth in the wider region. He teaches courses on foreign trade and globalization in the Middle East and on the theory and practice of political economy.
