About this book

The articles in this volume cover the various options of the optimal management of brain tumors, vascular lesions, and functional disorders. They provide a good balance between microneurosurgery and radiosurgery, presenting also alternative surgical and radiosurgical treatment options with discussions on their advantages and disadvantages. The presentation of multiple treatment methods will help to provide better service to patients. Some papers, specifically highlighting alternative treatment options, are accompanied by editorials prepared by recognized experts in the field.

Additional emphasis is put on importance of the advanced neuroimaging techniques for radiosurgical treatment planning and subsequent follow-up.

Reviews

“This is a comprehensive textbook on the role of gamma knife radiosurgery … . Several uses for CT, MRI, NMR Spectroscopy and metabolic imagery in evaluating radiation damage, necrosis, side effects and so on are discussed. Neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists will find the book helpful.” (Joseph J. Grenier, Amazon.com, May, 2016)

“Drs Chernov, Hayashi, Ganz, and Takakura present a review of contemporary Gamma Knife radiosurgery practice. … Gamma Knife Neurosurgery in the Management of Intracranial Disorders is targeted toward a neurosurgical audience. … the work also would be of value to residents and fellows and afford them a good vantage point from which to learn the lay of the land for Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The book would make for a welcomed addition to any comprehensive neurosurgical library.” (Jason P. Sheehan, David Schlesinger and Cheng-Chia Lee, Neurosurgery, Vol. 73 (6), December, 2013)

“This book covers the role of gamma knife radiosurgery on brain tumors, vascular lesions, and functional disorders and discusses a multidisciplinary approach to these lesions and alternative treatment options. … The book targets practicing and trainee adult and pediatric neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, neuro-oncologists, neurologists, and neuroscientists. … Articles are well written and end with up-to-date and lengthy reference lists. … Readers will enjoy not only the summary of the literature, but also the expert opinions and the helpful illustrations.” (Ramsis Farid Ghaly, Doody’s Book Reviews, October, 2013)
