About this book
This practical and comprehensive book provides succinct and up-to-date information on the value of the various diagnostic radiological measurements made using all the imaging modalities currently employed in the management of a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal disorders, including developmental, paediatric, traumatic, degenerative, metabolic, tumoural and rheumatological conditions. The book has a unique design, with three distinct but dove-tailed sections. In the first section, the physico-chemical principles of the various imaging modalities used in measurements are explained, and the strengths and weaknesses of each modality are considered. The second section examines the application of the imaging modalities to obtain accurate measurements across all musculoskeletal anatomical sites. The final section focusses on the role of measurements in specific disease states, namely arthritis, metabolic bone disease, bone marrow disease and tumours of bone and soft tissue. All chapters arewritten by experts in the field, drawn from across Europe, and the book is lavishly illustrated throughout. It will provide an invaluable and easy-to-use reference on the performance and significance of imaging-based measurements at different anatomical sites and in different disease states.
