A special focus is on realtime and virtual navigation techniques as well as potential complications and their avoidance.

Reviews

From the reviews:

“This textbook on the surgery of the upper cervical spine is written by several experts with training and a large experience with these surgeries. … Both the adult and pediatric spine are covered thoroughly. … This book can be of great value to orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeon, trauma specialists, residents, fellows, and medical students.” (Joseph J. Grenier, Amazon.com, September, 2013)

“This book is to explore current techniques for cervical spine surgery and reconstruction in view of the diverse problems this surgery presents. Neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and neurologists are the primary audience for this book. … This is an unparalleled source of information on reconstructive surgery of the upper cervical spine, appropriate for neurosurgeons and skull base surgeons involved in the management of complex spinal conditions.” (Celso Agner, Doody’s Review Service, May, 2011)
