AGE

The Official Journal of the American Aging Association

We are very pleased to announce that William E. Sonntag is the new Editor-in-Chief of AGE from January 2016.
Dr. Sonntag has been conducting research on neuroendocrine aging for over 35 years and is one of the leaders in studying the role of growth hormone and IGF1 in aging. He is the founding Director of the Reynolds Oklahoma Center on Aging and the Director of the Development Core of the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Biology of Aging.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Donald Ingram for his 11 tireless years of service as EiC of the Journal. Dr. Ingram assumed this role in 2004 when the American Aging Association entered a publishing partnership with Kluwer Academic Publishers later merged with Springer-Verlag.
Under Dr. Ingram’s leadership, AGE has transformed from a back office hobby to a modern online publication now publishing over a hundred articles in 6 issues per annum. The impact factor has risen from 0.5 (2004) to 3.4 (2014) and AGE has become an established and respected journal within the scientific community. We wish Dr. Ingram the very best in his retirement from his Editor-in-Chief responsibilities but look forward to being able to call on his experience as a valued member of the Editorial Board.

GeroScience is a bi-monthly, international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles related to research in the biology of aging and research on biomedical applications that impact aging. The scope of articles to be considered include evolutionary biology, biophysics, genetics, genomics, proteomics, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, endocrinology, immunology, physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, and psychology.

Articles concerning clinical studies may also be considered but the results should reveal underlying biological mechanisms of aging. Studies must reflect more than issues related to the care and treatment of geriatric patients. Papers concerned with social, economic, and political issues of aging will generally not be considered unless they relate directly to biomedical gerontology.

In addition to manuscripts emerging from original research, the journal actively solicits research reviews of important topics in biomedical gerontology. Other types of manuscripts are also acceptable, such as commentaries, debates, and meeting reports..
