Description

The international forum covering research in freshwater and marine environments ...now covered by ISI...

Aquatic Ecology publishes timely, peer-reviewed papers on the ecology of fresh, brackish, estuarine and marine environments. Articles cover fundamental and applied research in the field and the laboratory.
Coverage includes studies of organization of lower levels into higher levels and those concerning intraspecific and interspecific interactions, as well as food web studies and recent ecophysiological investigations that report on how excreted chemical substances and exudates (kairomones) can act as carriers of information (infochemicals); and how the flow of this information and subsequent feed-backs influences the transfer of matter and energy in the food webs.

The journal provides a forum for the aquatic ecologist - limnologist and oceanologist alike- to discuss ecological issues related to processes and structures at different integration levels from individuals to populations, to communities and entire ecosystems.

We are pleased to announce that Aquatic Ecology is now available Online First.
The Online First service lets users access peer reviewed articles well before print publication. These articles are searchable and citeable by their DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and hence significantly reduce the time it takes for critical discoveries to reach the research community.
