International Society for Plant Pathology
The International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP) promotes the world-wide development of plant pathology and the dissemination of knowledge about plant diseases and plant health management.
ISPP
Food Security is an official publication of the Society. In 1998, ISPP was challenged to initiate a Task Force on Global Food Security at a Public Meeting addressed by Nobel Peace Laureate Norman Borlaug. The Task Force has a programme of activities, from which the idea of a journal of food security emerged. This was taken up by a distinguished international group of scientists, sociologists and economists who hold a deep concern for the challenge of global food security, together with a vision of the power of shared knowledge as a means of meeting that challenge
In partnership with Springer this journal was born with its topical title and with a subtitle indicating the challenging breadth of the topic - Food Security: The Science, Sociology and Economics of Food Production and Access to Food. Clearly, while plant diseases present a constant threat to food supply, food security goes far beyond plants and indeed far beyond agriculture, as Norman Borlaug has reiterated in his commendation of the journal.
Members of ISPP, and Members of its many Associated Societies, can have access to Food Security for a greatly discounted personal subscription.
