Medical Microbiology and Immunology - New Editor-in-Chief Announcement

Springer is pleased to announce that Isabelle Bekeredjian-Ding is taking over from Christian Bogdan, Volkhard Kempf, and Matthias Reddehase as the Editor-in-Chief of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, effective as of January 1, 2024.

MMIM EiC Headshot

An immunologist and medical microbiologist by training, Isabelle Bekeredjian-Ding is currently the head of the Microbiology Division at the Paul Ehrlich Institute where, in 2021, she founded the German Center for Pandemic Vaccines and Therapeutics (ZEPAI). Her main interest lies in promoting innovative drug development and therapeutic concepts in the field of infectious disease to tackle the eminent threats brought about by antimicrobial resistance, pandemics, and climate change.

While we wish Professor Bekeredjian-Ding every success in her editorial work for MMIM, Springer is also deeply grateful to Professors Bogdan, Kempf, and Reddehase for their leadership and hard work over the past years. MMIM has greatly benefitted from the expertise and leadership of the current Editors-in-Chief, and we would like to take this chance to thank them for their years of service in supporting and developing the journal.

Please join us in thanking the outgoing Editors-in-Chief, Professors Bogdan, Kempf, and Reddehase, and in welcoming Professor Bekeredjian-Ding to her new role. Isabelle Bekeredjian-Ding will take over the responsibility of handling newly submitted manuscripts from October 2023.
