Environmental Sustainability - Special Issue (December, 2024): Waste Recycling and Sustainable Environmental Technologies for Pollution Control (WRSET-2024)

Rapid urbanization and industrialization are causing severe impacts on the global environment by increasing solid waste generation, depleting natural resources, deterioration of soil quality, and uplifting climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions from the solid waste. Adaption of circular and green economy in waste management sector is the key factor to curb the environmental pollution along with effective mitigation of climate change. The increasing volume and complexity of waste is posing a serious risk to environment and human health in whole world.

This Special Issue is expected to make a positive contribution to the collection of key knowledge and insights on the source, fate, risks and of developing contaminants in the waste, water, soil and air with the participation of researchers worldwide, to better ascertain the present status and to identify knowledge gaps and future challenges. Subtopics of the SI can be given below, but not limited to, the following:

  • Novel recycling techniques for organic waste, plastic waste, electronic waste, etc.
  • Environmental risk assessment and control plans of emerging organic and inorganic contaminants in the solid waste and wastewater.
  • Economically viable methods and technologies for the management of solid and hazardous wastes.
  • Mitigation of climate impacts of waste management.
  • Advanced technologies for conversion of waste biomass into energy.
  • Current and prospective legislative and regulatory creativities contending waste management.
  • Waste Management Policies and its legislation.
  • Biological and advanced thermal treatment technologies for sustainable waste management.
  • Waste to energy production.
  • Reduce, recovery reuse, recycle, remediation concepts & implementation strategies.
  • Innovation, entrepreneurship and start-up in waste management.
  • Life cycle assessment and End-of-life scenarios in waste management.
  • Biomass production from waste & carbon sequestration (composting, biochar, etc.)Environmental education for waste management industries and community
  • Green recovery practices in sustainable waste management
  • Sanitary Landfilling
  • Wastewater treatment and reuse.
  • Industrial waste management.
  • Nano-technology for sustainable Environment
  • Climate change and Sustainable management.
  • Control of air, soil and water contamination through advanced and sustainable technologies

We are interested in original experimental work at the field and laboratory scale, case studies, systems analysis, data inventory, critical reviews and timely advances viewpoints.
