Bio-Design and Manufacturing - Call for papers: “Biomaterials and emerging technologies for tissue engineering and in vitro models"

For the publication of the Special Issue, BDM will hold an International Conference on Biomaterials, Bio-Design and Manufacturing (BDMC 2023), Aug. 68, 2023, in Singapore (https://www.bdmc2023.org (this opens in a new tab)).

Aim & Scope: Remarkable advances in biomaterials have paved the way for scientific breakthroughs in tissue repair and regeneration. Biomaterials are highly similar to natural extracellular matrix, making them ideal temporary supports for maintaining adequate cell functions both in vitro and in vivo. The integration of "smart" biomaterials with emerging technologies such as microfluidics and 3D printing offers a range of benefits for manufacturing complex designs with broad applications. These advances enable bio-engineers to successfully address the grand challenges posed by tissue complexity and reproducibility.

In this Special Issue, we call for, and welcome, papers focused on the development of advanced functional biomaterials and inks, as well as those involving bio-design strategies aimed at finding applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and the bio-fabrication of complex in vitro 3D models. This issue will feature at least 7 to 8 high-quality papers, including five original papers and 2 to 3 concise specialist reviews on these topics. One review paper will be provided by the Guest Editors which can be used as a cover article for the SI including a high-quality image.

Submission Guideline for SI

All articles will be subjected to peer-review via the online EM system, except Editorial and News & Views that do not need to be reviewed. These will be evaluated by the Editors.Submission guidelines are available at https://www.springer.com/journal/42242/submission-guidelines (this opens in a new tab)The online submission URL is https://www.editorialmanager.com/bdmj/default2.aspx (this opens in a new tab)
When submitting, the Special Issue's authors will see a questionnaire as below. Please choose “Yes” for the question “Does this manuscript belong to a special issue?” Then, please select the Special Issue’s name “S.I. : Biomaterials and emerging technologies for tissue engineering and in vitro models.”New Content Item

We will be grateful if authors mark “SI” on the title line in order for BDM editors to pick up the papers on the special issue by online submission system. We also ask all guest editors to add this instruction in invitation letters.
