Lasers in Dental Science - Call for Papers: Soft Tissue Applications of Lasers in Dentistry

The special issue on Soft Tissue Applications of Lasers in Dentistry aims to provide a focused exploration of the rapidly evolving field of laser technology in dental practice. It will cover the following key areas: 

1. Laser Technology: An overview of laser types, properties, and their specific advantages in soft tissue procedures. 

2. Clinical Applications: In-depth coverage of laser-assisted soft tissue procedures, including gingivectomy, frenectomy, lesion treatment, and cosmetic contouring, with clinical case studies to illustrate their practical application. 

3. Biological Effects and Safety: An examination of the biological interactions between lasers and oral soft tissues, emphasizing safety measures and potential risks. 

4. Education and Training: Insights into educational pathways and training requirements for dental professionals seeking to incorporate laser dentistry into their practices. 

5. Technological Advancements: Exploration of innovative laser systems and their integration with other dental technologies, and a glimpse into future developments. 

6. Patient Experience: Focus on patient perspectives, pain management, and anesthesia in soft tissue laser-assisted procedures for enhanced patient care. 

7. Interdisciplinary Approaches: Highlighting successful collaborations with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care. 

This special issue will serve as a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, advancing the field, and promoting patient-centered, evidence-based laser dentistry practices. Dr. Prabhu Manickam Natarajan completed his BDS degree from The Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, India and went ahead to complete his MDS in Periodontics from Annamalai University in the year 2003. Later, he went ahead to finish Doctorate in Periodontics from the renowned Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) in India. He was the first to complete the Doctorate in Periodontics from the University in September 2011. He received his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK in 2019. Based on his contribution in Dental education, Dr. Prabhu was awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Trainers from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in January 2020. He was the first from India to receive this Fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Later, he went ahead to receive the Fellowship in General Dental Practice from the Royal College of England. Dr. Prabhu started his teaching career as a Lecturer in Periodontics in Feb 2004 and gradually got promoted to various levels based on his contributions in teaching, research, and clinical practice. He got promoted as a Professor in Periodontics in India in February 2012 and worked as a Professor in Periodontics and Research coordinator in Penang International Dental College, Malaysia in 2012. Dr. Prabhu had worked in Gulf Medical University, Ajman and USTF, Fujairah, before joining Ajman University, UAE. Dr. Prabhu is a renowned speaker at various national and international Conferences. He was awarded three research grants in UAE, and he is also a PhD guide and examiner for PhD, Masters and undergraduate exams.
