OPSEARCH - Call for Papers: Special Issue on Optimization Models: Theory and Algorithms

Optimization models involve formulating mathematical models to represent real-world problems, with the goal of finding the best possible solution. Optimization algorithms are methods that search for the optimal solution to these models. Both models and algorithms play a critical role in a wide range of fields, including engineering, economics, operations research, and computer science.

A special issue on optimization models and algorithms in this journal – OPSEARCH will provide a platform for researchers to showcase their latest work in this area, to share new insights and developments, and to discuss open challenges and future directions. The special issue would be of interest to researchers, practitioners, and students working in the field of optimization, and it would help to advance the state-of-the-art in this important area of research.

The papers are expected to make a significant contribution to the state-of-the-art in optimization research by introducing new knowledge, methods and applications that improve upon or go beyond what is currently known. The topics covered by these papers are (but not limited to) multi-objective optimization, duality theory, linear and nonlinear optimization, applications of optimization to engineering and finance, etc.

These papers provide novel ideas in terms of the optimization models and their solutions which are not previously explored. For instance the problem discussed in the paper on  optimization of a multiobjective problem over an integer efficient set of another multiobjective problem is not much explored, similarly the concepts of maxplus algebra are also at its developing stage and the paper describes an ample scope for formulating and developing new and efficient approach to solve optimization problems.  Other papers discuss some new algorithm which include multistage transportation and assignment problems with advanced restrictions, duality results for semi-infinite programming and bilevel optimization, applications of optimization to machine learning problems by providing a novel framework which combines generalized pinball loss functions with twin support vector machines. Further, some new numerical scheme to solve variational inequality problem are discussed and a new model for variational control problem under data uncertainty is also introduced.

The common theme that makes these papers a coherent set is the focus on advancing the theory, algorithms and applications of optimization. The proposed papers will focus on introducing new models for complex optimization problems and to provide a strong theoretical base to solve such problems. Some novel algorithms and their computational challenges will also be discussed to tackle these problems. Overall, the proposed papers will make a valuable contribution in optimization theory and its applications.
