The neurointensive care management of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is one of the most critical components contributing to short- and long-term patient outcome. As the body of literature has been rapidly growing in the last decade, the Neurocritical Care Society (this opens in a new tab) assembled a committee to review the evidence and update the existing recommendations for aSAH management. A total of nine specific topics were selected to be addressed and the GRADE approach was used for the evaluation of publications eligible for inclusion. These guidelines provide recommendations for or against interventions proven to be effective, ineffective, or harmful, but also serve to highlight gaps in knowledge that should guide future research priorities for evidence assessment medications from harming patients.
