Plant Biotechnology Reports - Call for contributions to special issue “Plant Genome Editing”

Special Issue Information:

The new techno-wave in CRISPR-based genome editing not only open a new era in plant precision breeding, but also make major impacts on the advanced development of basic sciences in plants. The CRISPR-based genome editing tools are becoming increasingly diversified and sophisticated, including discovery of various Cas enzymes and systems, such as more precise Cas enzymes, increases in genome accessibility by recognizing a simpler protospacer adjacent motif (PAM), invention of cytidine or adenine base editors, development of new base mutators, and improvement of homology-directed repair(HDR)-mediated genome editing technique. There are also tremendous methodologies to deliver gene editing tools into plants, which includes Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, polyethylenglycol–mediated protoplast transformation of DNA or ribonucleoprotein complexes, viral vector-based delivery, and particle bombardment. Moreover, new techique such as haploid inducer-mediated genome editing (HI-Edit) has recently shown a possibility to accelerate genome editing of recalcitrant varieties. Now, numerous labortories are working in the field of plant genome editing and making much progress in basic and applied sciences. Therefore, it is an adequate time to make a special issue on “Plant Genome Editing”. This issue will offer a forum for bringing together investigators with different approaches not only in studying their development and application of molecular scissors for crop development, but also in using of genome editing in plants as basic research tools. We encourage scientists to contribute original research papers and reviews dedicated to diverse subjects for plant genome editing.
