Journal of Geographical Sciences - Call for paper: Special issue of Journal of Geographical Sciences Human, civilization evolution and environmental interaction

Background of the special issue

Asia stands as the world’s most extensive continent, bordered by Europe to its west and by the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean to its north, east, and south, respectively. The continent is characterized by a distinctive monsoon climate, arising from the significant thermodynamic contrasts between its vast landmasses and surrounding seas. This climatic phenomenon has fostered a rich tapestry of environments that have nurtured human societies across millennia.
From the dawn of the Paleolithic Age to the contemporary era, Asia has been a crucible of human ingenuity and cultural fluorescence. Nevertheless, this remarkable journey has not been thoroughly understood, particularly regarding how our species has affected the natural world and been in turn shaped by the world. Key questions remain about the nature of human responses to environmental shifts, the means by which environments have been harnessed and altered by human endeavors, and the diverse civilizational narratives that have unfolded amid these interactions.
In light of these compelling themes, we invite scholars from the geosciences and related interdisciplinary fields across the globe to contribute their latest insights into the symbiotic relationship between humanity and the environment within the broad context of Asia.
This special issue seeks to assemble a collection of papers that probe into various aspects of human and environmental changes. We encourage submissions that explore, but not limited to, the following topics:
•    The climatic and environmental variations as background of social changes during the Holocene.
•    The impact of climate and environmental changes on human migration and settlement patterns.
•    The role of natural resources in the rise and transformation of civilizations.
•    Anthropogenic changes to landscapes and ecosystems and their socio-cultural implications.
•    Technological innovations and their environmental repercussions throughout history.
•    The intersection of cultural practices and environmental stewardship.

We are looking forward to receiving your contributions and to witnessing the vibrant academic discourse that this special issue is sure to generate.
