First launched in 1994 as an English quarterly, the journal changed to a bimonthly publication in 1996, and has already been indexed in fifteen internationally prominent databases, including SCI, MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, CA SEARCH, AIDSLINE, TOXLINE, and Life Sciences Collection.

A dedicated editorial board consisting of basic and clinical scientists ensures stringent online peer-review and is actively engaged in developing this journal into an important forum for communication among experts from different biomedical fields and between the scientific community in Asia and the rest of the world.
