Aims and scope

The Journal of Low Temperature Physics publishes original papers and review articles that advance understanding in all areas of low temperature physics and cryogenics, including theoretical and experimental contributions, and in particular in emergent areas of low temperature physics.

Subject areas include:

  • Superconductivity – including conventional and non-conventional superconductors
  • Quantum and cryogenic solids, liquids and gases – including superfluidity and ultra-cold quantum gases
  • Quantized vortices, vortex matter and quantum turbulence
  • Quantum information – including molecular magnets, spin manipulation at low temperatures, qubits and applications to quantum processing
  • Quantum electronics and devices – including transport phenomena in mesoscopic systems at low temperatures, quantum and nanoscale sensors, microwave optics and quantum amplifiers
  • Nanosystems at low temperatures – including transport, thermodynamic, and collective properties
  • Topological systems – including topological insulators, semimetals and superconductors; fractional quantum Hall states; string-net condensed states; and other strongly correlated quantum liquid states
  • Condensed matter physics – including thermal, magnetic, spectroscopic, electronic, and transport properties of low temperature matter (not covered above)
  • Surface physics at low temperatures – including Scanning Probe Microscopy (STM, AFM etc.)
  • Experimental techniques – including low temperature technology and applications.


Papers should address new physical problems at low temperatures rather than just present new synthesis techniques. 
 
The Journal also encourages the submission of Rapid Communications and Special Issues – including Conference Proceedings – as well as short Technical Notes describing recent advances in low temperature techniques and methods.
