  • Call for Papers: Life After the MSW

The Clinical Social Work Journal (CSWJ) is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue called "Life After the MSW". In this issue we will be seeking manuscripts that offer readers a mix of historical/scholarly information about the topic, as well as concrete and practical information for soon to be and/or recent MSW graduates. The aim of this special issue is to offer practical advice to newer professionals in the field. We hope that the articles within this special issue can be used by faculty members and supervisors who are helping to train new social work practitioners, as well as by the graduates/students themselves.

Edited by: Melissa D. Grady (EIC of CSOW), Kendra C. Roberson (President of the Clinical Social Work Association)

Abstracts should be submitted by October 1, 2022. Invitations for full manuscripts will be sent out by December 31, 2022. Full manuscripts should be submitted by March 1, 2023.

  • Call for Papers: Clinical Social Workers at Work

Clinical social workers provide the majority of mental health services in this country. However, there are few opportunities for active practitioners who are not also researchers to share the work they do in the field with others. This special issue of Clinical Social Work Journal will provide a forum for non-research oriented clinical social workers to share the work they do in the field with other practitioners. The aim of this special issue is to provide a platform where clinical social workers who do not normally publish in academic journals can share with others the innovative work they are doing with clients. Each article will be a description of an actual contemporary practice in varied contexts and with various client populations, including services for diverse and underrepresented populations, as well as non-traditional social work practice settings.

Submission of Abstracts due by September 15, 2022. Submission of final papers due December 15, 2022.

  • Call for Papers: Child Welfare: Current Realities and Future Possibilities in Clinical Social Work Practice

This special issue of the Clinical Social Work Journal seeks original manuscripts dedicated to advancing knowledge and clinical social work practice on this topic. We are interested in innovative clinical social work practice approaches to delivery of child welfare services to children and families from initial entry into system to exit via family reunification, adoption, or aging out of the system.

All research manuscripts must have a strong discussion of implications for clinical social work practice with this population. Theoretical papers are welcomed that are relevant to understanding the needs and strengths of this population and how best to enhance child well-being and increase rates of family reunification, adoption, and legal guardianship via innovative clinical social work practice approaches.
