Dear Readers of Biomedical Microdevices,

As of February 2021, Prof. Mauro Ferrari has resigned from the position of Editor-in-Chief of our journal.

Springer Nature wishes to thank him for his continued work, passion and dedication through all these years.

Prof. Ferrari’s tenure has been long and extremely successful: under his leadership the journal was launched, grew and developed for more than 20 years, contributing to create and shape the field.

Through the years, Biomedical Microdevices has published 106 Issues comprising more than 1800 articles that have been cited over 44,000 times and downloaded over 1 million times.

We are sorry to see Professor Ferrari stepping down but we are also excited to follow and support the development of the journal in the years to come, building on Mauro’s many achievements and continuing Biomedical Microdevices’ journey.

We are extremely glad that Prof. Ferrari has agreed to remain with the journal in an advisory capacity, with the honorary title of Founding Editor-in-Chief. His guidance will be invaluable going forward as we move into the next chapter of Biomedical Microdevices’ story.
