Founded in 1966, the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) works to establish and maintain high standards of professional education and competence in the field of dance/movement therapy.

The Association stimulates communication among dance/movement therapists and members of allied professions through publication of the ADTA Newsletter, the American Journal of Dance Therapy, monographs, bibliographies, and conference proceedings.The ADTA is the only organization solely dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the profession of dance/movement therapy.
