International Economics and Economic Policy - Call for Papers: Deadline prolongated for Collection/Special Issue on "Policy Challenges in Times of High Inflation"

New submission deadline: 31 March 2025

The world economy has witnessed a strong increase in inflation, leading to fears of a prolonged period of high inflation and de-anchored inflation expectations. The changing stance of monetary policymakers, which have increased interest rates substantially, has triggered a controversial discussion about the optimal response of monetary policy and the related macroeconomic effects.

The special issue welcomes contributions which discuss the arising policy challenges and provide new empirical and theoretical evidence on inflation dynamics.

Relevant topics include but are not limited to:

  • Policy trade-offs in times of high inflation
  • Supply and demand side determinants of inflation
  • Commodity prices and inflation
  • Inflation and inequality
  • The role of expectations for inflation dynamics
  • Upcoming challenges for monetary policymakers
  • The Phillips curve in time of high inflation
