About this book

This book presents the proceedings of the Conference on Computer Science, Electronics and Industrial Engineering (CSEI 2020), held in Ambato in October 2020, with participants from 15 countries and guest speakers from Chile, Colombia, France, Japan, Spain, Portugal, and USA. It discusses topics such as the use of metaheuristic for non-deterministic problem solutions, software architectures for supporting e-government initiatives, and the use of electronics in e-learning and industrial environments. It also includes contributions illustrating how new approaches on these converging research areas are impacting the development of human societies around the world into Society 5.0. As such, it is a valuable resource for scholars and practitioners alike.

Garcia, Ph.D. (Scopus ID: 56597269000Web of Science ResearcherID: J-3195-2019) studied electronics and instrumentation engineeringElectronics and Instrumentation Engineering at the University of the Armed Forces-ESPEForces ESPE. In 2013, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Control, Automation, and Robotics Engineering, and in 2018, he obtained his doctorate at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). His studies were carried out thanks to a grant from the Ecuadorian government. From 2008 to 2013, he worked as an engineerEngineer in different companies in the area of oil and gas in Ecuador such as Schlumberger, Petrobras, and Petroamazonas EP. His research interest is focused on the design of next-generation architectures based on Industry 4.0 in various domains such as automation and smart manufacturing.

Felix Fernandez-Peña, Ph.D.(Scopus ID: 56436863600, Web of Science ResearcherID: AAA-1621-2020)is Professor of Cybersecurity and Software Programming at Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Ecuador. His research interests include the use of machine learning in the detection of cyber-attacks, software development and usability assessment, and semantic web. He received an M.Sc. in Telematics and a Ph.D. on Electronics and Computer Science from Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana. Currently, he is Director of the Applied Informatics Research Group at Universidad Técnica de Ambato and a member of the Ecuadorian Research Network of Computer Science.

Carlos Gordon Gallegos, Ph.D. (Scopus ID: 56419359600) He, received his Electronics Engineering and the M.Sc. degree in Networks and Telecommunications from the Technical University of Ambato (UTA) Ecuador in 2005 and 2010, respectively. He joined the Department of Optoelectronics and Laser Technology, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, UC3M, Madrid, Spain, in 2012, and he received Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Electronics and Automation Engineering in 2016, under the supervision of Prof. Guillermo Carpintero del Barrio. He has written more than sixty SCOPUS scientific papers. His current research interests include photonic integrated circuits in InP for the millimeter-wave & terahertz signal generation for high data rate wireless communication systems, the semiconductor short-pulse laser systems, and artificial intelligence in robotics and renewable energy.
