Das Burnout-Inventar misst 10 Dimensionen und genügt als einziges auf deutsch online verfügbares Instrument wissenschaftlichen Ansprüchen der Testkonstruktion: Seine Reliabilität und Validität wurden geprüft, und seine Normen beruhen auf einer Stichprobe von 616 Erwachsenen über 18. Weltweit wurde das Burnout-Inventar bislang von mehr als 300.000 Personen bearbeitet.

Matthias Burisch war Professor für Psychologie an der Universität Hamburg, wo er u. a. das Studienmodul Organisations- und Personalentwicklung leitete. Darüber hinaus berät er seit über dreißig Jahren Einzelne und Organisationen. Burisch gehört dem Kuratorium von SwissBurnout an, einer internationalen Dialog-Plattform für alle Fragen um Stress und Burnout.
