Overview
- Gives a comprehensive description of the original approach of satellite microwave remote data called satellite radiothermovision which allows retrieving various dynamical characteristics of mesoscale and synoptic atmospheric processes
- Summarizes the results of practical implementation of the satellite radiothermovision to study of tropical cyclones, atmospheric rivers, and global atmospheric circulation, which proves that the suggested approach is a powerful research tool independent of numerical weather/climate modeling
- Introduces (for the first time to English-speaking reader) the Geoportal of satellite radiothermovision, which provides a set of freely accessible products of remote data processing by the author’s original algorithms

About this book
This book summarizes the author’s research resulted in developing the satellite radiothermovision approach which allows retrieving dynamical and energy characteristics of atmospheric mesoscale and synoptic-scale processes based on a close scheme of satellite passive radiometry data processing.
The book introduces new applications of the satellite passive microwave observations to detailed systematic study of tropical cyclones’ evolution, climatology and characteristics of atmospheric river, parameters of global atmospheric circulation and their variations on climatically significant scales.
The results presented in the book demonstrate a clear relation between the convergence/divergence of latent heat from the lower atmosphere to the center of tropical cyclone with variations of its intensity and provide a better insight into the tropical cyclone dynamical energy balance based on remote data.

About the author
Since that time he worked at the Fryazino branch of IRE RAS as a researcher scientist / senior researcher / leading researcher, and also at the Space Research Institute (IKI RAS). During that time he published about 90 scientific works. In March 2019 he obtained the degree of Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences (in Russian State qualification) from IRE RAS.
Among his main co-authors are Prof. E.A. Sharkov (IKI RAS) and Dr. A.P. Chernushich (IRE RAS).
The presented book will be based on my doctor thesis which generalizes the research in the field of passive microwave remote sensing for investigations of atmospheric mesoscale and synoptic-scale dynamics. Some particular results of this multi-year work were published in English but a systematic presentation of the developed original concept of satellite radiothermovision and its application to analysis of atmospheric processes is still lacking in English literature.Bibliographic Information
