This book provides the theoretical knowledge required by students when learning how to diagnose oral diseases, plan treatment, and perform various types of dental restoration. It is also useful for clinicians wishing to update their treatment skills and broaden their understanding operative dentistry.
Adopting an evidence-based approach, and in accordance with the philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry, it explains in detail the use of both classic and new restorative materials in various clinical situations. It also discusses the principles of smile analysis, as well the technique for esthetic composite restorations on posterior and anterior teeth, including direct and indirect veneers. About the editor

Carlos Rocha Gomes Torres is a specialist in operative dentistry who is currently a professor on the undergraduate and graduate programs in Operative Dentistry at the Institute of Science and Technology, São Paulo State University - UNESP, Brazil. After qualifying as a dentist he gained his PhD in Operative Dentistry from the Institute of Science and Technology, UNESP, and then undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He subsequently completed his Habilitation in Operative Dentistry and was appointed Associate Professor of Operative Dentistry, Occlusion, and Dental Sculpture in the Institute of Science and Technology at UNESP. Dr. Torres holds proficiency certification in Laser Dentistry (CFO, Brazil). He has been the lead or co-author of more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as the editor of two books.
