Springer launches new journal Molecular and Cellular Pediatrics

German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine jointly produces new open access journal with international publisher

New York | Heidelberg, 1 October 2014

Springer is collaborating with the German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ) to publish a new open access journal Molecular and Cellular Pediatrics. The first articles have already been published and are freely available on the journal’s website at www.molcellped.com.

The new international and interdisciplinary journal covers the results of innovative research in current molecular and cellular concepts in pediatrics. Topics include rare and genetic diseases, oncology, immunology, cardiology, endocrinology, gene therapy, neurology, nephrology, pneumology, infectiology, metabolism, gastroenterology, neonatology and translational medicine. The journal consists of frontline reviews and original research on the latest developments, and also features a discussion forum. Editor-in-Chief Klaus-Michael Debatin is supported by Managing Editor Martin Wabitsch, both of the University Medical Center Ulm, Germany, and an international editorial board of experts in pediatrics.

“As a society, we are dedicated to helping doctors stay abreast of the latest developments in pediatric and adolescent medicine, and ultimately enriching the lives of these special patients,” said Debatin. “I am confident that this new journal will provide the appropriate forum for basic research-oriented pediatrics, a field that to date has remained largely neglected.”

Christine Lodge, Editor Medicine Journals, at Springer, added, “We are pleased to cooperate with the DGKJ in publishing a new, international journal in pediatric research. This complements the successful partnership we already have with the society as the publisher of the German journal Monatsschrift Kinderheilkunde, which focuses on continuing education. At Springer, we are committed to disseminating knowledge in nearly every discipline, and this new addition to our open access portfolio fits perfectly with that mission. We welcome other societies to explore how we might also work together.”

The German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin/DGKJ) promotes the scientific and professional interests of pediatric and adolescent medicine, committing itself to the optimal ambulant and stationary medical care for children and adolescents in Germany.
