Journal no. 11804

  • Covers research in naval architecture, ocean engineering, marine resource exploitation, marine engineering, marine power system, underwater acoustical engineering, corrosion prevention, automatic navigation, and related topics
  • An important scholarly journal on naval architecture and marine engineering in China
  • Aims to increase and spread knowledge of shipbuilding and marine engineering

The Journal of Marine Science and Application (JMSA) is the only English journal in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering at universities of China covering every aspects of marine technology.

JMSA, co-sponsored by the Chinese Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (CSNAME) and Harbin Engineering University (HEU), is jointly distributed by HEU and Springer-Verlag. It is one of the Transactions of the CSNAME. The CSNAME is a nationwide, nonprofit and academic society which was established in 1943 with the aim of promoting the development of the scientific and technological level of naval architecture and ocean engineering in China. The number of its members is nearly 30,000, mainly from China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), China Classification Society (CCS), Harbin Engineering University (HEU), and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The society has conducted international cooperation and exchange with many countries such as Germany, Holland, Japan, Korea, Russia, UK, Ukraine, and USA. HEU is one of the key universities in China with a strong competitive edge in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering.

The Journal of Marine Science and Application (JMSA) is a peer-reviewed journal whose papers go through double-blind process. Each article submitted on the ScholarOne Manuscripts shall be sent to two reviewers. If the reviewers hold different opinions about the article, a third one will be chosen to help judge the validity of the paper. All manuscripts are reviewed by international reviewers from such countries as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Iran, India, Japan, Korea, Norway, Portugal, UK, and USA.

The JMSA not only holds a leading position in research on naval architecture and ocean engineering in China, but also reflects the trend of the development in this field in the world. The editorial board of JMSA is made up of 50 experts from over ten countries, including, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Korea, Norway, Portugal, UK, and USA, etc. Honorary editor-in-chief is Professor William C. Webster, who is a fellow & life member of the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers, a fellow of the US National Academy of Engineering, and has obtained the Davidson Medal for excellence in ship hydrodynamics. Editor-in-chief is Prof. Wenyang Duan, who is now the Yangtze River Scholar Professor in the National Special high-level talent project of China. Famous scientists such as Prof. Odd M. Faltinsen, a fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Prof. Torgeir Moan, editor-in-chief of Marine Structures, are our editorial board members.
