The book reviews practical experiences on excavations and foundations found in and on soft soil deposits. These reviews are complemented with new research results.

Geotechnical design and execution of civil engineering structures on very soft soils are usually associated with substantial difficulties. The aim of the authors is to give an overview of the material properties of soft soils and their application in excavations.
