International Journal of Early Childhood

Editor-in-Chief: Donna Berthelsen

Journal no. 13158

The International Journal of Early Childhood has a double mission:

  • Firstly, this journal has a specific history and a specific goal; to work for the child’s right to education and care all over the world. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the basis of the extensive work of OMEP. This is one focal point and the uniqueness of this journal.
  • Secondly, we want to continue with the main aim of the journal, that is, to publish interesting and well-researched papers on early childhood and early childhood education from all over the world.
In order to support children’s rights and education we need highly respected research and highly pertinent papers, based on rigorous enquiry. We need to be on the agenda all over the world, addressing not only the scientific world, but also inspiring teachers in the field of early education. The critical and scientific debate is central to the field of ECE, academically as well as in practice.
The spirit of OMEP helps us to steer the journal and the critical scientific discussion helps us to develop knowledge about childhood and early education all over the world. We are convinced that this journal makes and will continue to make differences in the scientific world as well as in children’s and teachers’ worlds. With the help of Springer this work can be even more relevant.
Dr. Maggie Koong
World President of OMEP
