Springer - Driving academic publishing since 1842

Springer anniversary logo © SpringerThe world found itself in an unprecedented period of change when Julius Springer founded his bookstore and publishing house in Berlin on May 10, 1842, laying the foundation for today’s company.

His goal was to share the latest findings from the natural sciences and humanities with the world. True to its roots, after 175 dynamic years the name Springer stands for a globally active publisher dedicated to the advancement of science, putting its authors and editors at the heart of the company’s publishing activities.

Book of the Day

To acknowledge the long publishing tradition, we want to share our Springer book highlights with you. Based on personal recommendations of Springer Nature employees, we will share one book per day with you.

Wissenschaftliche und Technische Arbeiten: Zweiter Band - Technische Arbeiten by von Siemens, Werner

"Siemens was the mentor of Adolf Slaby, Fritz Springer's closest technical consultant in the 1890s - all of whom met as fellow members at the Club of Berlin, a famous gentlemen's club at that time. These contacts opened the doors for Springer to become first in publishing for members of the Academy as well as the TH Charlottenburg (later TU Berlin). Among the books available from that period on SpringerLink, it receives an impressive amount of attention (3,000 downloads).“
